Efforts to end the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict have gained new momentum as European leaders, led by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, prepare for a crucial virtual meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump. This meeting comes ahead of Trump’s proposed in-person summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

The primary agenda of the meeting is to increase diplomatic pressure on Russia, safeguard Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty, and explore possible pathways to end the war. Germany has reiterated that Europe stands firmly behind Ukraine’s independence and territorial integrity.
