Today’s Health News: WHO warns – Be careful to avoid heat waves
The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently issued a warning that rising heat waves across the globe pose a serious health threat. According to WHO, this year has recorded unprecedented temperatures, directly impacting the heart, brain, and respiratory system of people.
Experts explain that extreme heat raises the body’s temperature, leading to heat stroke, dehydration, and blood pressure imbalance. The risk is especially high for the elderly, children, pregnant women, and those with pre-existing health conditions.
WHO advises:
- Stay indoors during peak heat hours.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Wear light, loose-fitting clothes.
- Use hats and sunscreen when going outdoors.
Additionally, WHO has urged governments to strengthen their heat-action plans to ensure timely warnings and health services.
Health experts believe that due to climate change, the intensity and frequency of heat waves are likely to increase in the coming years, making early precautions essential.
