Odisha Govt and SJTA Reject Online Sale of Lord Jagannath’s ‘Mahaprasad’

The Odisha Government and the Shri Jagannath Temple Authority (SJTA) have rejected the proposal to sell the famous ‘Mahaprasad’ of Lord Jagannath online. The decision was taken keeping in mind the religious and cultural significance of the temple.

Mahaprasad is considered sacred and highly revered by devotees, and it is traditionally distributed only within the temple premises. Concerns were raised that online sale might affect the sanctity and religious sentiments associated with it.

SJTA stated that the sale of Mahaprasad should only occur within the temple complex, and devotees should receive it by visiting the temple. The decision was deemed necessary to preserve religious discipline and cultural heritage.

This move has brought relief to many devotees and the local community who were concerned about maintaining the traditional ways of worship and receiving Mahaprasad.
