Ministry of Education Releases UDISE+ Report 2024–25: Key Highlights & Insights

The Ministry of Education has released the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (UDISE+) 2024–25 report, presenting a clear picture of how Indian school education is improving year by year. This report is not just about numbers—it reflects progress, challenges, and future opportunities.

🔑 Key Highlights of UDISE+ 2024–25

  1. Teacher Strength Crosses 1 Crore
For the first time, India has over 1.01 crore teachers in schools. This ensures better attention to students and marks a 6.7% increase from the previous year.
  2. Better Student–Teacher Ratio (PTR)
Across foundational to secondary levels, the ratio is between 10–21, much better than the NEP’s guideline of 1:30. This means students now get more personal guidance.
  3. Dropout Rate Declines
The dropout rate is steadily falling—Preparatory (2.3%), Middle (3.5%), and Secondary (8.2%). This shows that more children are staying in schools.
  4. Improved Retention & Transition Rates
    • Retention at Foundational level rose to 98.9%
    • Transition from Middle to Secondary jumped to 86.6%
These changes highlight that children are not just enrolling but also moving ahead in their studies.
  5. Digital & Infrastructure Growth
    • Schools with computers: 64.7%
    • Internet access: 63.5%
    • Electricity: 93.6%
    • Toilets (Boys – 96.2%, Girls – 97.3%)
    • Playgrounds: 83%
    • Libraries: 89.5%
This digital shift is making education more modern and accessible.
  6. Inclusive Education
With 54.2% female teachers and rising girl enrolment (48.3%), education is becoming more gender-inclusive. Schools with ramps and handrails (54.9%) are also improving accessibility for differently-abled children.

✅ Why This Report Matters

The UDISE+ 2024–25 report proves that India’s education system is moving towards quality, inclusivity, and digital readiness. The focus is no longer just on enrolment, but on better learning environments, equal opportunities, and future-ready infrastructure.
