NIRF Rankings 2025 India’s Top Institutes in Engineering, MBA, Medical and More

The Ministry of Education released the NIRF Rankings 2025 (National Institutional Ranking Framework) today, and the list once again highlights the dominance of India’s premier institutions. These rankings cover Overall, Engineering, Management (MBA), Medical, and University categories.

Overall Rankings 2025

For the seventh consecutive year, IIT Madras grabbed the first position. Moreover, IISc Bengaluru secured second place for the tenth year in a row, while IIT Bombay claimed third. In addition, IIT Delhi and IIT Kanpur completed the top five, proving their consistent academic excellence.

Engineering Rankings 2025

Engineering education continues to revolve around IITs.

  • Rank 1: IIT Madras (88.72)
  • Rank 2: IIT Delhi (85.74)
  • Rank 3: IIT Bombay (83.65)

Meanwhile, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Hyderabad strengthened their positions in the top 10. Therefore, students aiming for engineering careers still consider IITs as the most reliable choice.

Management (MBA) Rankings 2025

The IIMs once again proved their leadership in management studies. IIM Ahmedabad retained its top rank for the sixth consecutive year. Furthermore, IIM Bangalore achieved second place, while IIM Kozhikode took third. In addition, institutes like MDI Gurgaon and XLRI Jamshedpur maintained their strong reputation, ensuring diverse options for MBA aspirants.

Medical Rankings 2025

In medical education, AIIMS Delhi stood first, and its lead remained unchallenged. PGIMER Chandigarh earned the second spot, while Christian Medical College (CMC) Vellore achieved third. Notably, SGPGIMS Lucknow and KGMU Lucknow entered the top 10, making Uttar Pradesh proud. As a result, students from the region now have top-tier medical opportunities closer to home.

University Rankings 2025

Among universities, IISc Bengaluru maintained its crown. Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) followed in second place, while Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) entered the top three for the first time. Moreover, Delhi University (DU) recorded its best-ever rank at fifth, with Hindu College and Miranda House holding the top spots among colleges. Clearly, DU has made significant progress in recent years.
