All-India Weather Alert: Heavy Rains, Floods in Delhi, Goa, and Jammu & Kashmir – August 2025

India is witnessing widespread heavy rainfall as the monsoon intensifies across several states. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for very heavy rain in regions including Goa, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, Uttarakhand, Assam, and parts of Uttar Pradesh. Extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Konkan & Goa from August 16 to 18, while Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat may experience severe rain on August 17–18.

Delhi and neighboring areas remain on high alert with a red warning for heavy rainfall, causing waterlogging and traffic disruptions. Residents are advised to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.

Tragically, torrential rains and cloudbursts in Jammu & Kashmir’s Chositi region have led to flash floods, resulting in at least 60 deaths and leaving over 80 people missing. Rescue operations are ongoing, with more than 1,600 people rescued so far despite challenging conditions.

Meanwhile, Goa sees the revival of the monsoon after a three-week dry spell, benefiting agriculture and replenishing water reserves. Bengaluru is experiencing cooler, rainy days providing relief from the heat.

Citizens are urged to stay updated with local weather advisories and take necessary precautions. For detailed forecasts, refer to the India Meteorological Department’s official portal.
