Vietnam Celebrates 80th Independence Anniversary with Grand Military Parade

Vietnam celebrated its 80th Independence Anniversary on September 2, 2025, with a grand military parade and nationwide festivities. The historic event took place at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi, the same location where President Ho Chi Minh declared independence from French colonial rule in 1945.

🇻🇳 A Show of Strength and Pride

More than 16,000 troops marched in formation, accompanied by tanks, missile systems, artillery, and armored vehicles. The air show featured Mi-171 helicopters carrying giant flags and Su-30 fighter jets roaring above Hanoi’s skies. For the first time, Vietnam also showcased a naval parade at Cam Ranh Bay, highlighting submarines, frigates, and seaplanes.

Military honor guards from China, Russia, Laos, and Cambodia participated, reflecting Vietnam’s growing diplomatic ties. The parade not only honored past sacrifices but also sent a message of national unity and modern defense readiness.

Thousands of citizens gathered, many camping overnight for the best views. Streets turned red with flags and festive outfits. Young people painted their faces with stars, wore patriotic T-shirts, and cheered with pride. The government also announced cash gifts for every citizen and amnesty for nearly 14,000 prisoners, underlining inclusivity.

Party General Secretary To Lam emphasized Vietnam’s journey from struggle to prosperity, declaring the goal of becoming a “strong, prosperous, and happy nation by 2045.” He assured that Vietnam seeks friendship globally but will never compromise on sovereignty.
